I’ve been using the Hourglass Unlocked mascara as my go to for months. Thought it was time to review it since I’ve had enough time to notice the pros and cons.
Pros
The pros of the hourglass unlocked mascara are that it lengthens lashes and keeps lashes defined if applied in an upward sweep. It also doesn’t have the weird fiber lash look in order to achieve the lengthening effect. It works best when I curl my lashes before applying so that its easier to get all of the lashes. If I curl my lashes again after a few hours it helps refresh the look but doesn’t cause much flaking. I also enjoy that it removes with water easily. It feels like little tubes coming off your lashes when you wash it off.
Cons
One of the cons of this hourglass mascara is that since the formula is very wet it takes longer to dry. I have to be careful not to look up while it’s drying so my lashes don’t touch my skin. Also, you must wait till completely dry to remove any residue with a q-tip. Otherwise, you run the risk of the cotton getting stuck to the lashes and possibly clumping them. It’s also best not to wiggle this mascara at the base of lashes because it will clump them since the formula is so sticky.
The Verdict
I love the length and definition I get from using Hourglass Unlocked. However, the price point is pretty high ($29) and waiting around for my lashes to dry is annoying so it lost 1 start. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
