I created a last minute Halloween Siren makeup tutorial for anyone who still needs a costume. I mainly used makeup that I already owned plus a stencil kit from Walgreens and glow lip gloss from Target. The piercing blue colored contacts and face gems are optional but I think they help complete the sea creature / evil mermaid look. Keep viewing for the video tutorial.
Steps for the Sea Queen Transformation
Eyes & Brows
- First, apply a medium to full coverage foundation.
- Using an eye shadow brush, apply sea foam shade over entire eye lids.
- Using the same brush, apply emerald green shade from outer corners to middle of the lid. Extending a little past the crease line.
- In addition, apply dark blue/navy eye shadow only to the outer corners then blend in with the emerald green.
- Using an angled eyeliner brush, apply a line of the dark blue shade to bottom lash line; stopping just before the tear ducts.
- Apply a highlighter to the waterlines and tear ducts, preferable a champagne shade.
- Next, brush on black lengthening mascara.
- Fill in brows so they are defined and angled. You are an evil sexy sea creature, they need a good arch. Straight brows are not sinister LOL.
- Next, apply piercing blue colored contacts; preferably, an aqua shade with a limbal ring so they look more other worldly. This is optional but I really feel it pulls the look together. A green shade with a limbal ring would work great too!
- Add a little highlighter under brow bone.
Scales
- Press scale stencil against your temples and brush on the sea foam shade. Optional: add some emerald green with your finger to the bottom scales.
- Next, use the eye shadow brush to stencil scales underneath your cheek bones to contour them. Use emerald shade with brush then dark blue with your finger to the bottom scales for dimension.
- Clean off stencil and press it in the middle of your forehead.
Use sea foam shade then highlighter to stencil in the scales. If you are able, try to make it in the shape of a heart for sweetness. - Using a tapered highlighting brush, highlight cheeks, nose, cupids bow, and chin with a champagne shimmer powder. Use a heavy hand, we only get Halloween once a year!
Lips & Extras
- First, apply deep dark purple lipstick and the add a brighter lilac gloss on top (optional as this one was supposed to glow in the dark but didn’t).
- Next, Stick on adhesive face gems to tear ducts or wherever you like. If you only have loose non sticky gems, you may add some lash glue to the back to stick them on without losing your skin later. This is also optional.
- Lastly, let your big hair down and stare at someone until they give you all their money honey!
