Good Curly Hair Day

Hi! It’s been awhile so I thought I’d pop in with the results of a good curly hair day. I’m listing the products I used below as well as similar ones that I have been enjoying too.

On this day, I used a cream, gel and a mousse to get a stronger hold. Normally, I just use a cream and a gel in the shower on my curly hair. Last time I got my hair cut, my hair dresser used a mousse as one of the last products. I’m happy I decided to try it out myself!

Steps

Shampoo and condition
Detangle with brush then rinse out conditioner
Apply curl cream
Out of the shower: Use Denman brush on small sections to “ribbon” curls
Glaze gel over hair, lightly scrunch/squish gel into ends (Do not rake gel in)
Apply a small amount of mousse over lengths of curls; try to not get much on the scalp (I get build up easily so don’t like to put to much product here)
Apply heat protectant spray all over hair, including underneath
Hover diffuse all from all angles (I use high speed / medium or high heat)

Finally, I’m listing the products I used this good curly hair day but am also including alternatives that work just as good or better.

Malibu C Un do Goo Shampoo liter bottle with pump and Not Your Mother's Naturals Tahitian Gardenia Flower and Mango Butter Conditioner on a small marble tray

Malibu C Un-do-goo Clarifying Shampoo (Alternative: Giovanni 50/50 Balanced Hydrating Clarifying shampoo – similar but not chelating; it may not perform as well if you are using this before dying your hair, after using lots of silicones, etc but works great for regular wash days especially if you have scalp build up)
Not Your Mother’s Naturals Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter Curl Defining Conditioner (Alternative: any conditioner with good slip for detangling)

Denman 9 row styling brush and Bestool flexible detangling brush on a small rectangular marble tray

Bestool Detangling brush (Alternative: Wet Brush – detangles well but I’ve broken two so I stopped purchasing)
Denman brush 9 rows (Alternative: Bestool detangling brush – Use with teeth held together with the small attachment it came with so that it provides tension)
