I recently had the privilege to try a protein pasta made from chickpeas. Banza chickpea pasta is gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, high in fiber, and high in protein. Banza currently comes in four textures: Rotini, Penne, Shells, and Elbows. Pictured above is the Banza Rotini pasta which contains 14 grams of protein and only 24 grams carbohydrates.
Banza pasta is tastier than whole wheat/ whole grain pasta but has the added benefit of being Gluten-Free. I tried the pasta with sauteed vegetables and felt the texture very similar to that of wheat pasta. I also tried the protein pasta with a creamy cheese sauce and it was superb!
Chickpeas have always been a favorite of mine, so it initially drew me to Banza. However the nutritional benefits were the reason why I had to try it! I found replacing regular pasta with Banza an easy way to decrease my carb intake while increasing my protein.
If you are interested in trying Banza, you can purchase it from their website at EatBanza.com; or use their store locator to purchase it in person, here.
